Surfer is a content optimisation platform that has widened into AI search. Writers get guidelines in a Content Editor based on what ranks, and teams can audit pages, plan topical clusters and track whether ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews mention their brand. The vendor now calls it an AI visibility platform.
What agencies use Surfer for
Surfer has a page for agencies, which describes three uses. The first is winning clients: add a prospect’s brand to get a site audit and see where it appears, or does not, in AI answers, then pitch the fix. The second is producing content, with real-time guidelines and an AI assistant, and a Brand Knowledge setting to keep tone consistent. The third is keeping clients ranked and cited through regular recommendations.
The vendor says an article can be created in under 20 minutes. White-labelling is listed under the Enterprise plan.
Surfer pricing
Plans are priced per month and shown billed yearly, in US dollars. The pricing page gives no monthly-billing figure, though the vendor’s FAQ says the annual plan saves up to 17% against paying monthly.
| Plan | Price, billed yearly | Main limits |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery | $49 a month | 120 documents, 10 pages tracked |
| AI Search Analytics | $82 a month | 50 AI prompts tracked daily, 5 brand spaces |
| Standard | $99 a month | 360 documents, 25 AI prompts tracked weekly |
| Pro | $182 a month | 360 documents, 50 AI prompts tracked daily, internal linking |
| Peace of Mind | $299 a month | Unlimited documents, 100 AI prompts, API access, a dedicated success manager |
| Enterprise | Tailored | Single sign-on, custom limits, white-label |
Annual plans are charged for the whole year at purchase. Card payment is accepted for monthly and yearly plans, and bank transfer for yearly only, with no PayPal. The plan can be changed at any time, and cancelling turns off renewal and keeps access to the end of the paid period.
What it connects to
The integrations page lists WordPress, Google Docs, Contentful, Zapier, ChatGPT and Jasper, and a free Chrome extension called Keyword Surfer. The plans also mention MCP access. The API is available only to accounts with the API add-on or on Enterprise, and the Peace of Mind plan lists API access.
Limits to know before you buy
Document counts cap how much can be created or optimised, and prompt tracking is limited by plan and by refresh rate: daily on some plans and weekly on Standard. The vendor marks unlimited documents on the top plan with a fair usage policy.
Features such as 1-click internal linking, content ideas and coverage gaps, templates and custom voices, and the Cannibalization Report start on Pro, not Standard. Plan names are the vendor’s own, and its pricing page uses Peace of Mind as the name of its fourth plan.
Plans and prices as published on the vendor’s own pricing page on 3 October 2026; check there before you buy. This is not a paid listing and Online Agency Network is not affiliated with the vendor.
