About Tug
Tug says it began in 2006 in the basement of Vice Media in London, started by its founder and chief executive, who had worked in search at an interactive agency, and that it is now an independent, global brand and performance agency. Its headquarters is in Shoreditch. It lists offices in Toronto, Sydney (its Asia-Pacific base), Berlin (its Central European base), New York and Singapore. The site gives no headcount.
The services page has four groups. Data, planning and strategy covers data infrastructure, insights, media planning and digital strategy. Search marketing covers PPC, SEO, AI search (GEO) and social search. Media buying covers social, programmatic, connected TV, digital out-of-home, retail media and traditional channels. AI and technology covers products the agency builds for clients and uses itself. Its approach is described in four steps: discover, strategise, build and launch, then test, learn and optimise, with strategies that are channel-agnostic and aimed at incremental growth.
A page on Tug Labs names its proprietary tools, among them Real Impact, a causal modelling tool the agency says it uses to prove incremental return across connected and disconnected media, and Lift Analytics, which it says estimates the hidden effect of brand awareness on campaigns. Another tool, described on the same page, aims to make a business and its products understood correctly by AI systems. These are the agency’s descriptions and were not tested here.
Case studies named on the site include one for Mitchells & Butlers on moving from zero-click search to social and AI visibility, one for Lever on a full-funnel overhaul of a B2B software business, and one for Suzanne Grae on incremental revenue. The pages read carry titles and no figures. The services, work and locations pages print no fee, minimum spend or contract length, so a first call has to supply them.
Ask what a first three months of search and media work costs, which tools are included in the fee, and whether incremental testing is part of the standard scope or an extra.
Online Agency Network compiled this profile from the agency’s own website in October 2026. The agency has not claimed the listing, and it does not carry the Verified badge. An agency that claims its listing can correct it and add budgets, case studies and team details.
