Buffer schedules and publishes posts to social media accounts, gathers the comments on them into one inbox, and reports on how the posts performed. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, YouTube, Pinterest and Threads, among others. Its price is counted in channels: each connected social account is charged for, and on the Team plan extra users are free.
What agencies use Buffer for
Buffer has a page for agencies, and it describes four uses. Each client’s channels sit in one account, with permissions that keep one client’s work apart from another’s. Posts can be sent to a client for sign-off before they go out. Performance reports for any date range can be exported as a PDF, with the agency’s own branding on the Team plan. And because the charge is per channel, the cost of a client’s accounts can be passed straight into that client’s fee.
The same page describes an Agency Partner Program that pays an agency for each client it brings to Buffer.
Buffer pricing
Price is set by the number of channels connected, and the rate for each channel falls as the count grows.
| Plan | Per channel, billed monthly | Per channel, billed yearly | Users | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1 | Three channels; ten scheduled posts per channel at a time |
| Essentials | From $6 a month | $5 a month for one channel | 1 | No approvals or access levels |
| Team | From $12 a month | $10 a month for one channel | Unlimited | None stated beyond fair use |
For the first ten channels the rate is $6 on Essentials and $12 on Team. From the eleventh it drops to $4 on both, and it drops again at 26 channels and at 51. The vendor’s own example puts 25 channels at $120 a month on Essentials and $180 on Team, billed monthly.
Paid plans have a 14-day free trial. An account with no payment details when the trial ends moves to the Free plan.
What it connects to
The integrations page lists 24 apps. Among them are Canva for design, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive for files, and Bitly for links. Zapier, Make and n8n connect it to other software, and two WordPress plugins share site content to a Buffer queue. Every plan includes API access, with more keys and a higher request limit on each plan up.
Limits to know before you buy
A channel is one social account, so five clients with an Instagram account and a Facebook page each are ten channels. Essentials has a single user, which means an agency with more than one person posting needs Team. Approval workflows, access levels and branded reports are on Team only.
The Free plan holds ten scheduled posts for each channel at a time and keeps 30 days of analytics history. Moving from Free to a paid plan charges for every channel, the three free ones included. The vendor calls scheduling on paid plans unlimited and states a fair use cap of 5,000 posts per channel.
Plans and prices as published on the vendor’s own pricing page on 2 October 2026; check there before you buy. This is not a paid listing and Online Agency Network is not affiliated with the vendor.
